City of Norwich AC’s Logan Smith produced a superb performance to win the Wroxham 5K on Wednesday night, clocking a new personal best of 14:28 in the process.
In what was another thrilling battle with training partner William Cork, also of CoNAC, Smith reversed the result from their recent clash at the Aylsham 5K – with Cork finishing second in 14:42. Harry Allcock, also representing CoNAC, rounded out the podium in third with a time of 15:04.
“It was a very good race – another battle with Will, my training partner,” said Smith. “He got one over me at Aylsham so it’s nice to get one back – and in the county champs as well.
“I’m really happy – a five-second PB to boot. It’s all trending in the right direction.”

The popular Wroxham event, hosted by Norwich Road Runners and part of the Sportlink Grand Prix Series, attracted a huge field once again – with entries selling out in just 19 minutes earlier this year.
“Everyone seems to turn out for it – you know it’s going to be fast,” Smith added. “It sells out in 19 minutes for a reason. Everyone gets out and goes after it.
“I think it’s better now that it’s only one event – it makes it more special. When you’re all hyped for it, it’s only going to bring good results.”
What’s next for Logan Smith?
Smith, who has enjoyed a stellar year that includes a 2:15:23 PB at the London Marathon, is focusing on sharpening his speed over the shorter distances for now.
“5Ks are the main staple at the minute – I’m doing another in Colchester in August, then the On 5K in Battersea Park in September,” he said.
“I’ve got about a month in between each race to get back to the track and work on speed.”
He also plans to line up at the ever-popular Worstead 5, known as much for its race as its post-race beer festival.
