The Wroxham 5K returns this Wednesday night for race six in the Sportlink Grand Prix Series, and the women’s field is brimming with talent.
With a mixture of experienced road racers and rising stars, several women are in strong form heading into one of Norfolk’s fastest races.
From Wroxham specialists to marathon heroes, here are six women who could light up the front of the race.
Ellie Grubb (City of Norwich AC)
Grubb placed third at Wroxham last year, clocking a personal best of 16:55. Since then, she’s enjoyed a breakout year – running PBs at every classic distance from 5K to the marathon. Expect her to be right in the mix again on a course she clearly enjoys.
Emily Ruane (Cambridge & Coleridge AC)
The Cambridge athlete scorched to a 16:25 at Wroxham last year to take second place and has carried that form through 2025. Ruane took victory at the Reedham Ten in 57:27 and recorded a superb half marathon PB of 73:45 in Barcelona earlier this year.
Harriet Carr (Wymondham AC)
Carr set her 5K PB of 17:16 here in 2023 and has since gone from strength to strength. She recently earned an England vest after finishing second at the Milton Keynes Marathon in 2:56:56. Add in a second-place finish at last month’s Norwich Triathlon, and you have a multi-talented athlete with big ambitions.

Mabel Beckett (City of Norwich AC)
Another sub-17 performer from last year’s Wroxham race, Beckett ran 16:56 here in 2023. She’s had a quieter spell of racing in recent months but took third at the Valentine’s 10K, hinting that she’s building back to her best.
Sarah Barrett (City of Norwich AC)
Barrett also ran 16:56 at Wroxham last year and has been in electric form ever since. She was recently recognised at the Athletics Norfolk Awards, winning both the Under-20 Track Outstanding Performance Award and Cross Country Athlete of the Year.
Grace Buchanan (North Norfolk Beach Runners)
Buchanan has put together an excellent 2025 so far. After winning the Aylsham 10K in a PB of 37:50, she returned to claim the Aylsham 5K in 18:00. With a Wroxham best of 17:46, she’s a strong contender for another big performance.
