Eleanor Grubb claimed her second Sportlink Grand Prix Series win of the year on Sunday with victory at the Flying 5K, hosted by Coltishall Jaguars.

The City of Norwich AC athlete, who previously triumphed at the Wymondham 20 in March, crossed the line in 17:50, fending off a strong challenge from Bungay Black Dog’s Jo Andrews to take the top spot in challenging conditions.

Grubb had hoped to run faster after clocking 17:35 at the Wroxham 5K earlier this month but acknowledged that fatigue and windy conditions made Sunday more about grit than speed.

“Wroxham didn’t go well – I think coming off the back of London, I don’t think necessarily the speed is back in my legs yet,” she said.

“I was coming off a bit of a cold and a very busy period life-wise at Wroxham. I knew by about 3K that I was nowhere near where I wanted to be.

“I wanted to come here today and do this – the conditions today though were tough, it was very windy out there. It took a lot out of you in the first couple of kilometres.

“I’m pleased with the win but my time is still nowhere near where I wanted it to be.”

Grubb’s victory adds another highlight to what has already been a strong 2025 season. She used the Wymondham 20 as part of her marathon build-up earlier this year before running the London Marathon in April.

Bungay’s Jo Andrews, who finished second in 17:57, praised her rival and admitted the final push just wasn’t quite there on the day.

“I wasn’t close enough unfortunately; I just didn’t have the legs – they went in the last 50 metres and Ellie had the fresh legs,” said Andrews.

“It was windy and hot today.”

The Sportlink Grand Prix Series now moves on to the Worstead 5 this Friday, with the points tables continuing to take shape.
