Race 8 in the Sportlink Grand Prix Series takes us to the popular Worstead 5 Mile, hosted by North Norfolk Beach Runners.

This Friday night classic blends fast country lanes with summer atmosphere, village charm, and even the option to grab a celebratory pint afterwards. Here’s everything you need to know ahead of race day.


Getting There

  • Race HQ: Queen Elizabeth Hall Community Centre, Worstead
  • Postcode for parking: NR28 9SD – signs and marshals will guide you on arrival
  • Parking opens: Approx. 17:30 – please car share where possible
  • Train option: From Norwich via the Cromer/Sheringham line
    • Suggested outbound: 17:45, arriving Worstead 18:06
    • Return trains: 20:31 or 21:46
    • Race HQ is 0.8 miles from Worstead Station
    • Ideal if you’re planning to enjoy a Wild Craft beer post-race

Arrival & Registration

  • Race HQ opens: approximately 17:30
  • Registration closes: 18:40 sharp
  • Toilets are located near HQ
  • If you didn’t receive your bib or forgot it, head to the NNBR gazebo for a replacement
  • Clubs are welcome to bring gazebos for bag storage and team space

Reminder: Attach your race number securely and fill out the emergency contact details on the back


Race Briefing & Start

  • Mandatory race briefing: 18:45 in front of Race HQ
  • You’ll then be escorted to the start line
  • Self-seed based on your estimated finish time
  • The race starts in Worstead village square
  • Start time: 19:00

Headphones Policy

  • No headphones allowed, including bone conduction models
  • This rule is enforced to ensure runner safety on open roads

Course Information

  • A scenic route through quiet country lanes, with a final 100m grass finish
  • One water station, serving runners twice – at approximately 1.5 miles and 3.5 miles
  • One bottle of water per runner at the finish line
  • Hydration is important – please come prepared and bring additional water if needed

At the finish: keep moving through the funnel to collect your medal and water


Food & Drink

There will be food vendors on site for runners and spectators to enjoy post-race.


Prizes & Medals

  • Cash prizes:
    • £50 for 1st, £30 for 2nd, £20 for 3rd overall male and female
  • Age Category trophies:
    • Junior (U18), Senior, then 40 through to 75+ in 5-year bands
  • Team Prize:
    • First mixed team (registered clubs) – top 2 males + top 2 females by cumulative time
  • All finishers receive a medal
