As the Mike Groves 10K approaches, it feels only right to shine a light on one of the runners who embodies everything Coltishall Jaguars is about.

Meet Sarah Circuit.

A PE teacher at Wymondham College, mum of two, newly qualified running coach – and a runner who simply loves the sport for what it gives back.

And that, she says, is what keeps her going.

A village race that changed everything

Sarah first connected with Coltishall Jaguars back in 2016 when she signed up for a Couch to 10K programme ahead of the Mike Groves race.

Living in Horstead, the event was local – but it proved to be much more than just another race.

“I completed the 10K and I did it in an hour – that was my aim,” she says. “Then family life happens and you dip in and out of running. But I always found my way back.”

Since Covid, Sarah has run every single week – now on a streak of more than 260 consecutive weeks.

“I just love setting myself little challenges,” she explains. “I did RED January this year, I’m running three or four times a week, and I’m helping a colleague through Couch to 5K. It doesn’t feel like a chore. It’s just part of who I am.”

The power of the Jaguars community

For Sarah, joining Coltishall Jaguars wasn’t about chasing times. It was about connection.

“It’s everything – friends, support, belonging,” she says. “You go out on a dreary January run and before you know it you’ve done 10 miles because you’ve just been talking. It clears your head. I call it shutting down the tabs.”

She credits the club with helping her train for her first marathon – the notoriously tough Norfolk Marathon.

With advice from fellow Jaguars and support from training partners including Keith Brighty, Paul Parker and Dave Addy, Sarah built her own training programme.

“I didn’t follow an app. I followed the advice of the Jags. Hill session, interval session, add a mile each week. We even ran the course in training and chalked sections on the road so we knew exactly what was coming.”

It paid off.

Despite brutal conditions on race day, she completed her first marathon surrounded by club support.

“That’s what the Jags are about. We help each other. If someone can’t run their race, we make sure they get their moment later.”

More than just a race

This weekend, Sarah won’t be racing the Mike Groves 10K – she’ll be marshalling and helping lead a course recce.

Now a qualified run leader, she continues to give back to the club that shaped her running journey.

When asked what runners can expect from a Coltishall Jaguars race, her answer is immediate:

“A warm, friendly welcome. A positive vibe. Beautiful roads. It’s just a lovely atmosphere.”
