The Coltishall Jaguars’ Flying 5K lived up to its name on Sunday as runners tore down the tarmac of the former RAF Coltishall airbase in Race 7 of the Sportlink Grand Prix Series.

With a flat, fast course, albeit amid hot and humid conditions, almost 400 runners were treated to another excellent day of racing — and it was Martyn Bath of Norwich Road Runners who claimed top honours in the men’s field. Bath clocked 15:48 to take the win and underline his status as one of Norfolk’s leading runners.

Hot on his heels was Neil Adams of North Norfolk Beach Runners, clocking 16:17 at the front of the M45-49 category. Mitchell Bunn of West Norfolk AC rounded out the men’s podium in 16:20, holding off a tight pack in a high-quality field.

In the women’s race, it was another strong showing from Eleanor Grubb of City of Norwich AC, who stopped the clock in 17:50 to take the win and top the F40-44 category. Jo Andrews of Bungay Black Dog RC wasn’t far behind, finishing second in 17:57 and first in F50-54.

Kate Murrell continued her comeback from Comrades Marathon and the success she enjoyed there as she claimed third spot with a time of 18:47, also finishing second in the F40-44 bracket.

With the Grand Prix standings continuing to take shape, attention now turns to the Worstead 5, organised by the North Norfolk Beach Runners – the next stop in what has already been an outstanding 2025 series.
