North Norfolk Beach Runners’ Neil Adams produced a commanding performance to win this morning’s Aylsham 10K in 33:35, leading from the gun and holding off strong competition on the scenic closed-road course.

“I feel like I’ve been a bit rusty recently due to a lack of races.

“I’m happy with the time – that’s a little bit quicker than a couple of years ago. I found the conditions good.

“I was a bit worried about the wind but I think it was in our favour most directions. I didn’t really feel a strong headwind and we had shelter from the hedge coming along Hayden Road.”

Adams, who found himself solo at the front for most of the race, admitted it was a unique challenge.

“It’s a strange race for me as I don’t often find myself right at the front following the lead bike throughout so I was just focusing on his back wheel!

“I had to keep concentrating and I was scared that someone was going to come up and whizz by!”

Reynolds and Upson complete podium

Tyler Reynolds took the runner-up spot in 35:00, with Craig Upson of Norwich Road Runners rounding out the top three in 35:10.

Club Double for North Norfolk Beach Runners

Adams wasn’t the only Harrier to cross the line first — he was joined on the winner’s list by clubmate Grace Buchanan, who took top spot in the women’s race.

“It was great to see Grace nail a race – she’s had that potential for a while now and I’m really pleased for her.

“By the sounds of it she paced it perfectly and it’s great to have two first places for the North Norfolk Beach Harriers. Following up from Steve’s win last year – we’ll keep it in the trophy room for another year.”
