Thinking of running the 2025 Mike Groves 10K – race two in the Sportlink 10K Series?
Get ready for a scenic and varied route that offers a mix of gentle undulations, open countryside, and tree-lined stretches.
Whether you’re chasing a PB or simply enjoying the experience, here’s what to expect from the event organised by Coltishall Jaguars.
The start
Your journey begins with a five-minute walk from the race HQ to the start zone on Stone Lane, at the junction of Tunstead Road and St Peter’s Lane. The road is not closed to traffic, so runners should line up carefully and be mindful of their surroundings.
The opening kilometres
The first kilometre takes you along the edge of Hoveton Hall grounds, following part of the well-known Wroxham 5K route. You’ll be running between a hedgerow on your left and a tree line on your right, with the road gently dropping before rising again as you approach Ashmanhaugh village.
At Marshal Point 1 (the village crossroads), continue straight on along Stone Lane. A few minutes later, you’ll reach Marshal Point 2, where you turn right toward Stalham Road and Beeston St Lawrence. Here, the course opens up, offering views of farmland and lower hedgerows on both sides.
Midway and rolling terrain
Upon reaching Marshal Point 3, at the Church Lane junction, continue straight. The next stretch presents a gentle downhill, but don’t get too comfortable – you’ll soon face a small incline before reaching Marshal Point 4. Here, you’ll take a left turn into Hall Road, a lightly undulating stretch that could hold a few puddles if the weather has been wet.
Pressing on, you’ll arrive at Marshal Point 5, where you turn left toward St Mary’s Church – this marks the halfway point of the race! If you’ve paced yourself well, now’s the time to start building your momentum – from here, it’s mostly flat running.
At Marshal Point 6, you’ll find the water station – a great opportunity to rehydrate before pushing on.

Through historic Tunstead
The course now leads you into old Tunstead Village, where you’ll pass the impressive Church of St Mary the Virgin on your right. This striking medieval church is a testament to Norfolk’s economic power in the Middle Ages – but there’s no time to stop for sightseeing, you’re at Marshal Point 7. Here, turn left down Church Lane.
This part of the course feels more enclosed, with tall, tree-lined hedgerows closing in as you head toward Place UK’s farm business entrance. At Marshal Point 8, continue straight on, staying on Church Lane.
A short distance later, you’ll rejoin the earlier route at Marshal Point 3. This time, turn right, retracing your steps to Marshal Point 2, where you turn left into Stone Lane.
The final push
Returning to Marshal Point 1, you’ll now follow a different route back. Turning right, you’ll join another section of the Wroxham 5K route. This stretch down Rectory Road offers a gentle downhill past the perimeter of Wroxham Barns, taking you through a tree-lined tunnel.
At Marshal Point 9, the final turn arrives—left into Tunstead Road. Time to empty the tank – just 400m to go!
One final left turn takes you into the main entrance of Wroxham Barns, where you’ll need to watch out for two speed bumps as you make your final sprint to the finish.
Congratulations – you’ve done it
Cross the line, catch your breath, and celebrate – your Mike Groves 10K is complete! Whether you smashed a PB or simply enjoyed the run, you’ve tackled one of Norfolk’s most scenic 10K routes.
