Holt 10K: Five things to look out for

The Holt 10K returns this weekend as race four in the Sportlink 10K Series – and with it comes one of the most scenic and well-supported events on the Norfolk running calendar.

Hosted by North Norfolk Beach Runners, this event combines countryside charm with competitive edge, making it a firm favourite among seasoned club runners and first-timers alike. Here are five things to look out for on race day. You can still sign up for the event here.

1. A glorious start and finish venue

The race starts and finishes in the immaculate grounds of Gresham’s School, offering a picturesque and practical hub for runners and spectators alike. From the buzz at the start line to the cheers at the finish, it’s a setting that elevates the event atmosphere.

2. A mix of road and trail

The Holt 10K offers something different – a blended terrain of road and compact trail. It’s a mostly flat course with a few gentle rises to keep things interesting and test the legs on varied ground.

3. North Norfolk scenery at its best

With wide skies, quiet lanes and lush green surroundings, runners are treated to some of the most beautiful views the county has to offer. Even in the thick of a tough 10K effort, it’s hard not to be distracted by the countryside charm.

4. Friendly faces and great support

North Norfolk Beach Runners know how to put on a race – and the support from marshals, spectators, and fellow runners always stands out. Whether it’s your first visit or a return trip, expect to be welcomed like a regular.

5. Club rivalries heating up

As the Sportlink 10K Series nears the halfway mark, the battle between clubs is well underway. With tight standings in multiple age categories as well, Holt could be a crucial race for team points and individual glory alike. Expect strong turnouts from the likes of Norwich Road Runners, Norfolk Gazelles, Dereham Runners and current leaders City of Norwich AC.
