Callum Bowen-Jones (Newham & Essex Beagles AC) and Rose Nicholson (Waveney Valley AC) claimed impressive victories at the Great Yarmouth Half Marathon on Sunday, leading home a field of 356 runners in warm and testing conditions.
Bowen-Jones took control of the men’s race to win in 1:11:33, ahead of Harry Allcock (City of Norwich AC) in 1:12:16. Adrian Russell (Dulwich Runners AC) completed the podium in 1:17:20, also taking first place in the M45-49 category.
Nicholson secured the women’s title in 1:21:46, with Katie King (Saint Edmund Pacers) second in 1:27:18 and Becky Hills third in 1:27:55.

The race, the ninth in the Spprtlink Grand Prix Series and organised by Great Yarmouth Road Runners, is known for its undulating route through the countryside rather than along the seafront. Starting and finishing at the race HQ, runners loop through Ashby, Lound, and Somerleyton, taking in the spectacular grounds of Somerleyton Hall before returning for the finish.
The organisers did a sterling job of hosting in the hot conditions, with plenty of water available for competitors around the course and at the finish.
With the combination of testing hills, warm weather, and scenic backdrops, the Great Yarmouth Half Marathon once again delivered a memorable challenge for runners from across the region.
There’s now just one race left in this year’s Grand Prix Series with the finale taking place at the Bure Valley 10 on Sunday, September 28. You can sign up for the race here.
