The Great Yarmouth Promenade 5 Mile Series gets underway with Race 1 soon – and as Race 4 in the Sportlink Grand Prix Series, it promises to be one of the standout events of the summer.

Set along the iconic Yarmouth promenade, this is a race built for speed.

Flat, exposed and right by the coast, it offers runners a genuine opportunity to run fast – as long as the conditions play ball.

Because if there’s one thing that can shape race day here… it’s the wind.

A fast course – on the right day

On a calm evening, the Great Yarmouth 5 Mile is a very quick course.

The flat promenade lends itself perfectly to:

Chasing a PB

Testing your speed

Racing hard over a shorter distance

But runners know the deal – everyone will be hoping for lighter winds on the night.

HOKA coming to race day

Adding even more excitement to this year’s event, HOKA will be in attendance alongside Sportlink.

Runners will have the opportunity to try on and race in a selection of HOKA’s latest shoes, including:

  • Rocket X3 – HOKA’s top-end race shoe, built for chasing personal bests. It feels fast, responsive and propulsive, but with enough cushioning to stay comfortable over the full distance.
  • Mach X3 – a faster training shoe designed for tempo runs and harder efforts. It gives you a bit of bounce and energy underfoot, helping you hold pace when the effort ramps up.
  • Mach 7 – lightweight, simple and quick. This is a no-fuss shoe that feels smooth and responsive, ideal for runners who like a more natural, fast ride.
  • Clifton 10 – all about comfort. Soft, cushioned and easy to run in, it’s a great option if you want something more forgiving while still keeping things moving nicely.

This is a rare chance to properly test shoes in a race environment, rather than just trying them on in-store – and could help you find your next go-to pair.

More than just a race

As well as the on-course action, there will be:

Spot prizes and giveaways from HOKA

A strong local field from across Norfolk clubs

A great atmosphere along the promenade

It all adds up to an event that offers far more than just a finish time.

Limited places remaining

Entries are still open – but spaces are limited.

With the combination of a fast course, strong competition and the chance to test some of the latest running shoes, demand is high.
