Danny Adams believes his form is starting to come together again after winning the Worstead 5 in the latest round of the 2026 Sportlink Grand Prix Series.
The City of Norwich AC runner took victory in 25:20 at the five-mile race, hosted by North Norfolk Beach Runners, as he continued his return to form following a frustrating spell out injured.
Adams, who was also second at the recent Wroxham 5K in 14:51, produced a strong front-running performance to take the win at race 10 of this year’s series.
Second place went to Joe Skipper, who recently retired as a professional triathlete, while City of Norwich AC’s James Senior, coach of the Norwich Distance Squad, was third in 26:11.
For Adams, the race played out largely as he expected.
“I thought it would be a hard run from the front,” he told Sportlink TV. “It would have been nice to have a couple of people with me, but they tried their best.
“It was good running overall.”
Adams was seen chatting with Skipper before the race, but admitted he was confident once the race began to unfold.
“I tried to make some early moves,” he said.
“I knew that if I just sat in front, he (Skipper) wouldn’t live with it.
“No, it was good banter, but it was a good run.”
The comeback
The victory continues an encouraging run of performances for Adams, who has had to be patient after injury disrupted his season.
“I came back about three months ago from an injury,” he said.
“I was out for two months, but it’s starting to pick up now, so it’s going well.
“I did well at Wroxham the other week, so it’s going the right way.”
Adams was also quick to praise the atmosphere at Worstead, where he gave his post-race interview while holding bao buns, a winner’s cheque and a mug.
“It’s amazing,” he said. “They have some great food on offer and it’s a great festival.”
Finch makes it three wins in the series
In the women’s race, Leanne Finch of Bure Valley Harriers continued her excellent Sportlink Grand Prix Series form by taking victory in 29:39.
It was Finch’s third win in this year’s series, following previous victories at the Reedham Ten and race one of the Great Yarmouth Promenade 5M Series.
Harriet Carr of Wymondham AC was second in 31:14, with club mate Louise McDonnell third in 31:45.
On event van adds to race-night atmosphere
Runners at the Worstead 5 also had the chance to try on and race in some of On’s premium shoes, with the On event van attending the race.
Those taking part could test models including the On Cloudmonster 3 Hyper LightSpray, On Cloudmonster 3 Hyper and On Cloudboom Strike LightSpray.
It gave runners the opportunity to experience the shoes in a proper race setting, rather than simply trying them on for a short run.

Two races left in the 2026 series
There are now just two races remaining in the 2026 Sportlink Grand Prix Series.
The series continues with the Great Yarmouth Half Marathon on August 9 before concluding with the Dereham 10 Mile Race on August 23.
Entries are still open for both races.
